With the ratificatin of the ASEAN Charter in Desember 2008, the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) had embarked on an organization restructuring that is aligned to the requirements of the Charter and their respective Comunity Blueprins, namely: the ASEAN Political and Security Community (APSC), the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), and th ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC).

The ASEC is seeking qualified candidates to fill in the following vacant positions:

Assistant Director Strategic Planning and Coordination

• Postgraduate degree in international relations, public policy, political-economy, development studies or related field;
• Extensive supervisory experience in a management role with a minimum eight (8) years high-level experience in a recognised specialised field;
• Solid knowledge and understanding of international and regional issues, particularly ASEAN and related political-security issues;
• Sound experience in public policy development and negotiation, and proven ability to provide strategic advice to high-level policymakers;
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of policy research and analysis;
• Proven ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with government representatives, public and private sector organisations and other stakeholders;
• Proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlinesExcellent command of English, written and spoken
